Ready-Mix Concrete
Ready-mix concrete is concrete manufactured at our concrete dry batch plant facilities and delivered via our tandem mixers or semi-trailer mixers. It is produced in various strengths ranging from 5MPa – 50MPa depending on specifications. The typical shelf life of ready-mix concrete is three hours from the time of batch, however it can vary depending on mix, weather conditions and project/ministry specifications.
Coloured Concrete
Coloured concrete is available to make your concrete project more aesthetically appealing. In cooperation with Interstar, our pure iron oxide pigment distributor, we can offer many coloured concrete options. The Interstar pigment is packaged in special disintegrating bags that are added directly to the ready-mix truck at our facilities. Coloured concrete arrives on your job site ready to pour with no additional handling required by the customer. Please visit Interstar Integral Colours for Ready-Mix Concrete for a full list of the coloured concrete options along with limitations and best practices for finishing coloured concrete.
Fibermesh Reinforced Concrete
Fibermesh reinforced concrete contains polypropylene (hair like) fibers that eliminate the need for wire mesh in certain applications. This product is added at our facilities to eliminate labour and material costs associated with the wire mesh alternative. Polypropylene fibers are predominantly used at 1kg/m3 dosage for required reinforcement in applications such as garage floor pours.
Recycled Concrete Blocks
Recycled concrete blocks are available for pickup at both our Carleton Place and Jasper locations (subject to availability). The recycled concrete blocks measure 2’x2’x4’ and weigh approximately one metric tonne each. They also have interlocking knobs that connect for stacking purposes similar to lego blocks. The recycled concrete blocks are made from recycled material so the strength (MPa) of the concrete cannot be guaranteed. Please contact an estimator at one of our locations if you require recycled concrete blocks made to specification.
Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC)
SCC, or Self-Consolidating concrete, is a very flowable and fluid concrete that disperses under its own weight into place within formwork. This type of concrete does not require vibration and reduces labour on placement while upholding the strength and characteristics of “standard” concrete.

Associated Concrete Items
Ice: Ice is used for concrete required to meet certain temperature specifications during the
warmer months. Ice can be ordered to drop the concrete temperatures up to 5°C. Please
contact our dispatch to determine if ice will be required for your project.
Winter Handling Admixture: Winter handling admixture can be added to concrete exposed to the harsh conditions of our Canadian winters. Additional winter admixtures may be required to ensure the quality of your finished concrete product. Our dispatch can assist you in determining the ideal dosage based on the current and expected ambient temperature.
Accelerating Admixture: Accelerating admixture can be used to accelerate the setting time of the concrete for projects under a tight timeline. By increasing the setting time speed, the unloading and placement time will be decreased. As such, you will need the site and labour force ready to get the product in place in a timely fashion. Like all ready-mix concrete, accelerating concrete is effected by ambient temperature so speak with our dispatch to give approximate unload times. Our experienced driving staff can also indicate if the concrete is getting close to expiry and needs to be returned to our facilities for pours approaching the limit.
Retarding Admixture: Retarding admixture can be provided to lengthen the concrete setting time for projects where unloading time is a factor. The concrete will remain in its plastic form for a longer period of time to assure appropriate placement. The dosage of this additive comes in one hour increments of additional setting time length.
